Singapore Officials Visit DBPR to Learn Business Practices
June 20, 2008
Tallahassee—This Monday, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (Department) will host officials from the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry. Mr. Low Chin Heng and Ms. Michelle Teo, who oversee Singapore’s Online Business Licensing Service (OBLS), and Mr. Leonard Wong, of InfoComm Development Authority of Singapore, are visiting the Department in order to learn the technology and business practices that have enhanced the Department’s ability to provide excellent service to its customers.
“I welcome Mr. Heng and Ms. Teo and look forward to sharing our practices at the Department,” said Interim Secretary Chuck Drago. “By sharing best practices, we can help one another and the economy – both locally and globally.”
The Department has made great strides in customer service and implemented new technologies to provide better service. Over the past year, the Department has reduced the average hold times from 30 minutes to an average of less than two minutes and shortened e-mail responses from 39 days to 48 hours.
The Department licenses more than one million businesses and professionals ranging from real estate agents, veterinarians, and accountants to contractors and cosmetologists. The Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s mission is to license efficiently and regulate fairly. For more information, please visit www.MyFloridaLicense.com.
