ADMINISTRATION COMMISSION AGENDA August 14, 2001 1.Approval of the minutes for the meeting held May 15, 2001. 2.Discussion Item:Strategies for Enhancing Efforts to Protect and Restore the Florida Everglades. On June 26, 2001, the Governor and Cabinet, sitting as the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund, discussed concerns related to the protection of the Everglades and more specifically the acquisition challenges related to the East Everglades Buffer Area.During this discussion, several ideas were expressed as possible solutions, ranging from enhanced local government land use planning to designating certain areas of Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties as an Area of Critical State Concern.Staff was directed to explore these and other options for discussion at the next Cabinet meeting. The purpose of this discussion item is to exchange information on state and local efforts related to Everglades protection.This agenda item includes:
