  1. Recommend reappointment of the following doctor to a four-year term on the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles' Medical Advisory Board provided by Section 322.125(1), Florida Statutes:

Thomas G. Dickinson, Ophthalmologist, Sarasota

Dr. Dickinson is a member in good standing with the Florida Medical Association and in good standing with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

  1. The Department has a grant directed by the U.S. Department of Transportation to promote safety belt use in Florida. This grant allows a statewide media program for dissemination of Florida Highway Patrol public service messages, designed to increase Florida's safety belt compliance to 75 percent, supplied to 14 popular member cable television channels in nine major market areas in Florida by the Florida Cable Telecommunications Association. Florida Cable Telecom-munications Association is a sole source vendor and the total cost will be $140,000. A similar grant for radio ads was approved by the Governor and Cabinet on March 12, 1996.
