1. Approval of the quarterly report for the period ending September
1997.

2. Request authority to contract with Hayes Computer Systems for
a senior database programmer for 496 hours at an hourly rate of
$145 for a total cost of $71,920. Work will be performed during
11 days in December, 21 days in January, 20 days in February,
and 10 days in March.
A senior database programmer, trained in Oracle, is needed due
to the recent loss of experienced personnel from the Department's
Information Systems Administration (ISA) staff. ISA is in the
process of converting the Motor Vehicle Database from its present
form to Oracle and a total rewrite of registration and titling
software for the Division of Motor Vehicles and the county Tax
Collectors. During this conversion and rewrite, the database
and software will be made Year 2000 compliant.
Seven companies on state contract #973-512-97-1 for consulting
services were contacted and provided with specific tasks to be
performed and the skills required to accomplish the tasks. Based
on the responses from those companies, Hayes Computer Systems
was selected.
