1. Recommend reappointment of the following doctor to a four-year term on the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles' Medical Advisory Board provided for by Section 322.125(1), Florida Statutes:

Dr. Baxter Byerly, Ophthalmologist, Tallahassee

Dr. Byerly is in good standing with the Florida Medical Association and with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

2. Pursuant to provisions of Section 287.059(4), Florida Statutes, and approval by the Attorney General to contract with private counsel on a contingent fee basis to handle certain forfeiture litigation, final approval is requested for expenditure of funds for the above referenced legal services through June 30, 2000.

3. Request approval to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) to solicit bids for new Motor Vehicle Inspection Program (MVIP) central emissions inspection station contracts to begin when the current contracts expire, no later than June 30, 2000, pursuant to Section 325.2135, Florida Statutes, (1998 Supplement), as amended by Section 50 of Senate Bill 1270, 1999 Legislature (Enrolled), effective upon becoming law.

This item was deferred from the May 25, 1999, Cabinet meeting.
